We started the season against local rivals Beeston, starting the game off very well and controlling the play in all areas of the pitch. After only 6 minutes we won a short corner and Richard Smith scored with a low flick in the bottom right of the goal. Beeston began to get hold of the ball and put pressure onto the Loughborough defence, getting their reward with a goal by ex Loughborough student Carl Smith after 25 minutes.

Loughborough came out in the second half and started to put pressure on Beeston from the start and five minutes into the half Nick Catlin scored, but only a minute later Chris Seddon scored at the other end for Beeston drawing the scores level again.

Only 4 minutes later however Loughborough scored again, this time the goal was from 1st year Chris Griffiths on his Premier League and Club debut. Beeston had a sustained period of pressure in the second half but we continued to defend well and in the 69th minute James Osborn broke away from the half way line and slipped the ball past the Beeston keeper to Chris Gregg who had a open goal to aim for, making the final score 4-2 to Loughborough. by Richie Dawson-Smith
