Loughborough Students Men’s Hockey Club (LSUMHC)

The Men’s 1st team have had another fantastic season by winning gold at the BUSA championships Beating Birmingham University to the trophy. They also qualified for the European League this season after another successful season in the EH Premier League finishing 3rd. Next season it will see the 1st team travelling all across Europe to play their matches and hopefully with a hardcore group of supporters.

The M2nd team also won gold in their BUSA Trophy competition beating Birmingham 4-1.

The M3rd team also competed in the BUSA Trophy competition getting through to the knock outs. Placing them selves as the best 3rd team in the country

The M4th team compete in their comparative BUSA level and join the 2nd and 3rd teams to compete in various Midlands leagues on Saturdays.

As well as playing hockey the club also boast the best bant and social scene in the university, regularly attending ‘Hey Ewe’ on Wednesday nights and other socials events within the week.

Tour time at Easter takes the Men to Bournemouth, UK and for the first time in hockey history the men’s fresher’s also had a tour to Portsmouth UK.

The clubs success owes itself to individual performances throughout the season leading to some of the clubs players represented their country on a global level such as the Commonwealth games and more recently the Manchester Europeans.

For the Men: Adam Harper - England, Jerome Goudie - GB and England, Tom Millington - GB U-20, John Jackson - Ireland, Richard Smith - England U-21, David Beckett - England U-21, Peter Dobson - England U-21, James Osborn - England U-21, Jon Bleby - England, Alistair McGregor - Scotland.

The success of the club is also dependant on freshers! For both on pitch players and of pitch BANT! Every year each club will takes its draft from the student body but we are also looking for volunteers and supporters. The club are piloting a new scheme for social membership this season so for further details ask a committee member or contact the Chairman.
