LUFBRA TAKE ON EUROPE!

Europe in a Nutshell

This autumn sees the start to the first ever season of the Euro Hockey League. 24 men’s club teams from all over Europe will be competing, representing 12 countries on a stage that will witness some of the highest standard of hockey played in the world. The official draw ceremony for the first round of Euro Hockey League was held during the EuroHockey Nations Championships earlier this year in Manchester. The draw saw Loughborough placed in pool E with Luzerner SC and Kelburne.

About Us

In Europe, club hockey is at the heart of sport, with players spending 30 to 35 weeks per year training and playing. The guys who are members of our 1st XI are required to contribute a huge amount of their time as well, meeting weeks in advance for preseason and continuing to have two Gym sessions, two Squad sessions, two Games, Individual pitch session, Yoga session, Conditioning session and Video sessions which amounts to over 24 hours a week and then many of them have international commitments on top of this.

In regards to high performance sport these players are the ambassadors for the club and the university in everything they do and now they are representing Our University on an international level. Upon their return they must once again turn their attention to the national league to attempt to qualify once again for the Europeans next season. There first home match back sees them pitched against Beeston on the 18th of November. Please come down and show your support for our boys after their campaign in Europe.

"It’s a major achievement for the club and as one of the players, I’m so excited about the whole thing. We’re travelling to Antwerp in Belgium to play 2 matches, the 1st against a pretty much unknown Swiss side: Luzerner, and the 2nd against a tough Scottish side: Kelburne. This trip will be a tough challenge but all of us in the team are prepared to do everything we can to make it through to the next stage of the championship." Adam Harper 1st XI

Euro Hockey League will be more than top hockey and media coverage – it will be the best way hockey has ever been presented. Can’t be missed!
